Jambo! - (Hello in Swahili)
Baba Simba Washed AA is a micro lot harvest on a smallholder farm, from the famous Embu coffee growing Region at altitude of 1,500 - 1,900 metres above sea level, located north east of Nairobi, Kenya, at the foothills of Mt. Kenya.
After cautiously hand-picking the ripe cherries, they are delivered to the select washing station for de-pulping, then controlled fermentation process after which the beans are sorted by screen size - category AA constituting of the larger beans.
The beans are dried on raised beds while carefully monitoring the moisture levels and as soon as passed, the rest of processing for export is done at The New Kenya Planters Cooperative Union (NKPCU), Sagana Coffee Milling Plant.
It is a medium bodied coffee, with flavour notes of bergamot, hints of prunes and blackcurrant flavours, juicy, with a slight citrusy finished, especially when it cools down.
We commend the community’s commitment to quality, coupled with the microclimate and the selected varietals of the coffee among other factors that significantly harmonise to achieve such a remarkable richness in the cup.

Mama Simba means lioness. The vibrant colours of marmalade and bergamot notes in this rare coffee find exude a picture of a magnificent lioness waltzing through the scenic landscapes of Kenya.
We are also inspired by the hardworking Kenyan women farmers, who are also mothers of the land. They carry out about 70 per cent of the work in the home and on the farms. Their willingness to labour tirelessly is the enabling factor in the successful soil-to-cup journey of this coffee bean.
